Mortgage Loan Underwriter - Remote | WFH

In this role, you'll use your expertise to evaluate borrower financial and credit information, along with property valuations, to make informed lending decisions. You'll collaborate closely with our production team to ensure a smooth journey from loan application to closing.

Key Responsibilities

• Underwrite and make decisions on a variety of residential mortgage loans, including agency conforming, jumbo, FHA, and VA loans.
• Verify and analyze all necessary financial information and documentation to ensure completeness and accuracy.
• Review appraisal reports to identify and resolve any discrepancies.
• Conduct a thorough analysis of applicant income, expense data, asset documentation, credit reports, and property valuations to ensure loan eligibility.
• Calculate qualifying ratios, assess creditworthiness, and provide risk assessments.
  
  

What We're Looking For

• Experience underwriting VA, FHA, Conventional, and Jumbo loans.
• A minimum of 4 years of underwriting experience.
• Familiarity with FNMA, FHLMC, and Non-Conforming mortgages is a plus.
• Proficiency in Desktop Underwriter (DU) and Loan Prospector/Loan Product Advisor (LP/LPA).
• A strong understanding of the mortgage lending process and loan calculations (DTI, LTV, etc.).
• Ability to prepare detailed findings reports.
• Excellent multitasking skills and the ability to manage multiple files simultaneously.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
