Summary

The Network Administrator is to develop, maintain and secure the network. The Network Administrator should have extensive experience working with enterprise networks. Will work with a team to troubleshoot, maintain and optimize the network for our district. This individual will work closely with the director of technology and technology coordinator.

Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree OR CCNA required. CCNP preferred. Must keep up with renewing certification. Minimum 5 years of related work experience. Preference may be given to applicants with IT Certification MCSE, VMWare VCAP, Palo Alto PCNSA. Previous experience working in a school preferred.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

The duties of the Network Administrator will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Perform support, troubleshooting, performance monitoring and tuning for the data networks at all locations including WAN, WLAN, LAN, VPN.
  • Oversee routing/switching, VLAN, security and wireless
  • Understand and utilize IPv4 and TCP/IP-design, operations and troubleshooting
  • Utilize working knowledge of copper and fiber cabling standards
  • Responsible for remote access and VPN operations
  • Oversee virtualization (Hyper-V & VMware) and physical servers
  • Provide and maintain cloud support (M365, Google Workspace, etc.)
  • Maintain Cisco & Palo Alto firewall
  • Maintain Active Directory and Windows Servers
  • Provide recommendations to the director of technology for network improvements, optimization, and deployment plans.
  • Perform implementation, maintenance and troubleshooting of network components to ensure maximum up time and communicate optimal refresh intervals to the director of technology
  • Understand and implement security best practices within network design. Work within the IT department and district schedule to minimize vulnerabilities and downtime
  • Coordinate security planning with the director of technology
  • Recommend designs, provide cost analysis, plan projects, and coordinate tasks for installation of data networks and network support systems.
  • Analyze and resolve complex technical problems for established network.
  • Provide network documentation, training, and team guidance. Excellent written, oral, and customer service communication skills
  • Must be self-motivated with excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Requires ability to work both independently and in a group environment.
  • Provide after hour support as needed and respond to communications in a timely manner
  • Perform other duties as assigned
