Base pay range

$135,000.00/yr - $150,000.00/yr

Wireless Architect

$135,000-150,000 base salary

Remote 90% of the time, 2 days on-site per month in Chicago (60612)

Permanent Direct Hire

8% match on 401K and 24 days PTO



Summary

As a Wireless Architect you will act as an escalation for all wireless technologies, while supporting the administration and configuration of a variety of wireless network hardware and applications. This role will allow you to demonstrate your expertise in planning, design, assessment, management, implementation and troubleshooting of wireless network infrastructure including but not limited to WLAN, LAN, WAN, DMZ and the Datacenter. You will be responsible for developing initiatives for managing and enhancing the overall health of the wireless network infrastructure to ensure business continuity and maximum up-time. You will work with various teams to drive projects that align with business needs and objectives both on campus as well as remote sites. You will have a good understanding of wireless technologies and RF design. You will communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences while managing and further enhancing the delivery of network connectivity offered to the organization across multiple platforms.

Responsibilities

•Plan, Design, deploy, maintain, and support the hospitals wireless local area networks (WLANs) including CISCO WLCs, switches, ISE appliance, Prime Appliance and other hardware as assigned.

•Monitor the network to ensure security of data and access privileges.

•Analyze and resolve network hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion and provide end-user assistance and training where required.

•Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts.

•Plan and implement network hardware upgrades, maintenance fixes, and vendor-supplied patches.

•Define metrics, monitor, and test and troubleshoot network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports. •Recommend, schedule, and perform network improvements, upgrades, and repairs.

•Collaborate with IT management and staff, departments, and other agencies in the development, deployment, and support of new network-based programs and applications.

•Provide guidance and technical support to peers and serve as an escalation point for help desk related issues.

•Develop, maintain, and ensure the accuracy and completeness of network related technical documentation as needed. Help drive a consistent set of standards for equipment, configuration, and operational procedures.

•Coordinate with other team members, court departments and agencies to deliver solutions and configuration items without impacting hospital operations and or patient safety.

•Communicate service disruptions.

•Perform other duties as assigned.


Required Job Qualifications:

•Subject matter expert for Cisco WLC, ISE and Prime

•Associates degree and 9+ years of relevant experience in Wireless.

•Experience with network access control technologies such as 802.1x

•Knowledge of RF software tools like ADS, HFSS. Experience using RF equipment such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers and communication test boxes.

•Knowledge of network technologies and standards (including 5G-NR, LTE, IETF transport standards (e.g., QUIC, TCP, SCTP, UDP, etc.), IP networking, 802.11 Wi-Fi QoS standards)

•Proficient with monitoring and logging tools for access management and troubleshooting using tools such as Syslog, ACS, Netflow (Plixer scrutinizer) Solarwinds and protocol analyzers

•SME in Wireless design and deployment

•Prior experience using industry established project management techniques in accomplishing strategic objectives

•Experienced with ITSM functionalities such as change control, CMDB, ticket system

•Understanding of disaster recovery, design, implementation, and testing

•Working knowledge routing and switching technologies

•Strong working knowledge of IP Addressing and Subnetting, including design and implementation

•Strong working knowledge of DNS and DHCP, including design and implementation

•SME in supporting large wireless networks environment with Cisco and Meraki

•Experience with Quality of Service, for Voice and Video

•Ability and availability to work occasional nights/weekends assignments, as necessary.

•Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team environment to ensure performance, reliability, and security in a dynamic 24-7-365 production network environment

Preferred Job Qualifications:

•A Valid CCNP or Enterprise is a plus

•DNAC and CMX experience is preferred •Experience with Cisco DNA, ACI, and SDN
