Network Engineer

ActioNet has an opportunity for a Network Engineer, located in North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida.. The candidate must have an Active Secret clearance. ActioNet is an IT service provider and solutions integrator headquartered in Vienna, VA that works with the Federal Government and Department of Defense. The ideal candidate will have experience leading complex engineering projects for large DoD telecom infrastructure modernization efforts.

Target Salary $120K-150k

As the Network Engineer, you will spearhead the technical design and implementation of our telecom modernization project. You will play a critical role in ensuring the successful delivery of the system by providing technical leadership, architecture design, and engineering oversight. Your responsibilities will include conducting requirements analysis, leading site surveys, developing detailed designs, and overseeing the implementation. Additionally, you will work closely with the project team to ensure the system meets all performance and reliability requirements.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Telecommunications design and installation skills
  • In-depth knowledge of DoD network security protocols and compliance requirements (e.g., DISA STIGs, RMF)
  • Proficiency in software-defined networking (SDN) and network function virtualization (NFV)
  • Experience with wireless 802.11 network technologies and UC environments
  • Strong understanding of network automation and orchestration tools
  • Expertise in implementing and managing VoIP and unified communications systems
  • Proficiency in network performance monitoring, optimization, and troubleshooting
  • Experience with IPv6 implementation and transition strategies
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies such as 5G, SD-WAN, and zero trust network architecture

Basic Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Science/Engineering or a related field.
  • Cisco CCNP or Awaya certified
  • At least 5 years of experience leading complex telecom engineering projects.
  • Deep understanding of voice, data, and fiber optic technologies and standards.
  • Experience with designing and implementing large-scale LAN/WAN infrastructures.
  • Knowledge of IP networking, routing/switching, and network security principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with engineering tools such as AutoCAD, Visio, and MS Project.
  • Active Secret clearance is required.
