Job Title: Network Engineer III

The Network Engineer III will be responsible for evaluating network cabling infrastructure, primarily within chemical plant environments. This role involves collaborating with site contacts and third-party vendors to assess and upgrade fiber and copper network infrastructure, ensuring alignment with Oxy's current standards.

- Onsite: Tuesday to Thursday
- Remote (WFH): Monday and Friday
The Network Engineer III will be responsible for evaluating network cabling infrastructure, primarily within chemical plant environments. This role involves collaborating with site contacts and third-party vendors to assess and upgrade fiber and copper network infrastructure, ensuring alignment with Oxy's current standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Core Infrastructure Design: Designing core infrastructure layouts using industry standards, best practices, regulatory codes, and site-specific safety requirements. This includes power management, network equipment, and network connectivity.
- Documentation & Technical Specifications: Create detailed documentation and technical specifications for both current and future state cabling/power infrastructure environments.
- Improvement Identification: Identify areas of improvement in network path redundancy, power management, and the organization of MDF/IDF room locations.
- Collaboration & Scheduling: Work closely with the network team and site contacts to prioritize and schedule necessary site work.
- Materials & Equipment Management: Identify and procure the necessary materials and equipment, and develop/review bills of materials required to complete projects.
- Quality Assurance: Oversee and review the work performed, conducting testing and inspections to ensure QA objectives are met.
- RCDD Certification: Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) with a minimum of 5+ years of industrial experience.
- Cisco Experience: At least 2 years of hands-on experience working with Cisco routers and switches.
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of fiber optic design and category cabling.
- Project Management: Proven experience in project management, including defining scope, objectives, and timelines related to infrastructure design work.
