Network Engineer - New Graduate

Position Summary
Thales is looking for a Network Engineer - New Graduate that will be responsible for all aspects of Network infrastructure operations. As a network engineer, it is expected to have proficient knowledge of network infrastructure concepts, such as structured cable systems, firewalls, switches, VPN, and wireless technologies.
In this position, you will also be expected to anticipate needs, think critically, and offer solutions to problems in effective and sometimes creative ways. As an engineer, it is expected to do these things with technical direction and general guidance on new assignments.

Network Engineer - New Graduate

Position Summary
Thales is looking for a Network Engineer - New Graduate that will be responsible for all aspects of Network infrastructure operations. As a network engineer, it is expected to have proficient knowledge of network infrastructure concepts, such as structured cable systems, firewalls, switches, VPN, and wireless technologies.
In this position, you will also be expected to anticipate needs, think critically, and offer solutions to problems in effective and sometimes creative ways. As an engineer, it is expected to do these things with technical direction and general guidance on new assignments.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Handle tickets, read, understand, make necessary adjustments and suggest improvements in order to maintain accurate network diagrams. Document and maintain an accurate networking inventory (Equipment, IP addressing, etc).
- Maintain equipment up-to-date with latest patches and firmware versions. Work with networking equipment third-party suppliers and internet service providers (ISP) for solving issues and overcome challenges (Opening, following up and report on ticketing status with them).
- Assist senior network engineers on maintaining and adjusting firewalls and network filters, on legacy, in ground and cloud environments. Networking Protocols/Concepts (Routing (OSPF, BGP), VLAN, Sub-netting, Load balancing, TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, TLS, SSH, etc.). Implement changes and make adjustments to solve or mitigate cybersecurity threats. Site-to-site and remote-access VPN connectivity support.
- Network Access Control support. Web access proxy servers and URL filtering support. Assist and work on projects assigned to networking team along with senior engineers.
- Assist senior engineers in collaborating with development and engineering teams to prioritize security risks, provide mitigation or remediation recommendations, and implement compensating controls. Assist in maintaining and suggesting improvements to network security policies, standards, processes and workflows.
- Provide on-Call support for infrastructure related service incidents and follow internal management escalation procedures when necessary (team rotation).
- Bachelor's degree in a related field of study.
- 0-2 yrs of knowledge/experience of Fortinet Firewalls and/or Cisco Switches and Firewalls.
- Self –motivated, critical thinker with strong technical background. Excellent interpersonal, written, and communication skills. Ability to multitask and shift prioritized quickly to support the business demands.
- Must work collaboratively and effectively across multiple teams.
- Implementation (a new patch, a replacement equipment, a new configuration, etc.).
- troubleshooting skills.
Special Position Requirements
- Schedule: Core Business Hours Monday-Friday, 9/80.
- Travel: Up to 10% for support in airports when required.
- Physical Demands: Must be able to left and carry a minimum of 25lbs. Must have the ability to use a variety of hand tools to test/replace PC components. Must be able to perform repetitive motion with wrists, hands and fingers for 8 hours per day (up to ¾ of the day).
