Hilbert College is seeking a dedicated and motivated Network Support Technician to join our Information Technology Services team. The successful candidate will provide essential support for the college's network infrastructure, ensuring reliable and secure connectivity for students, faculty, and staff. Job Duties And Responsibilities
Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of network hardware and software.
Monitor network performance to ensure reliability and availability.
Troubleshoot network issues and perform necessary repairs.
Support end-users by resolving connectivity problems and providing technical assistance.
Maintain documentation of network configurations, procedures, and problem resolutions.
Collaborate with senior technicians and IT staff on network projects and upgrades.
Ensure compliance with university policies and industry best practices for network security.
Qualifications
Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field or relevant experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Basic understanding of networking concepts and technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs).
Familiarity with network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls) and software.
Familiarity with WIFI concepts and technologies.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Excellent customer service experience.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and procedures.
Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA) are a plus.
Previous experience in a network support or IT helpdesk role.
Experience in a higher education environment a plus.
Ability to lift 50 lbs. and climb 6’ ladder.
Ability to move safely in confined spaces.
Compensation: $45,000 - $50,000
