Network/System Administrator I

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for infrastructure and technical architecture, administration, support, and maintenance of Client/Server, and web systems supported by PHMC. Assist management and senior members of the Network/System Administration roles in defining requirements while working with project managers and application developers to analyze infrastructure, security and technical requirements and contribute to detailed specifications for implementation. Use established change management processes and methodologies to solve complex technical problems. Ability to communicate to management the progress of project timelines, technical challenges, and contingencies in support of the business. Must keep abreast of new technologies trends and tools to support and participate in PHMC’s technical vision. Also responsible for uptime, security, enhancement, and maintenance of client/server, web, and legacy applications. Candidate must have the ability to communicate effectively with peers as well as management.

WORK SCHEDULE:

This is normally a full-time position with a work schedule of five days and 40 hours/week. Duties are performed 12 months a year. May be required to work some evenings and weekends during peak periods in support of system uptime. Work primarily performed at 1500 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA. as well as our secure datacenter location.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Closely follows all change management practices, policies and procedure standards.
  • Ability to understand business requirements, and consider them, when designing technical solutions whether work effort resulted from a business requests or otherwise.
  • Produce and maintains network architecture documentation.
  • Maintain and monitor day-to-day technical operations of network equipment and troubleshoot or proactively support when needed.
  • Implement and maintain computer and communications hardware and software that support the business and technical requirements of the company.
  • Participate in network design conversations and implementation services by third party vendors and business partners.
  • Performs system reviews including event log, system logs and monitoring of all critical hardware software used within the enterprise.
  • Responsible for the delivery of work according to established timelines.
  • Communicates statuses through any assigned project lifecycle to the project management team.
  • Required to keep abreast of new technologies through training, and proactive research and reading reference materials. Focus on Cisco, VMware (vSphere, HA, Administration), HP Blade Chassis (BL380, latest generation), 3PAR 7400 SAN, Windows Servers (2012-current) and Solarwinds ORION RMM platform.
  • Assist in understand all network designs to ensure they meet HIPAA, SOX, and PCI compliance requirements.
  • Responsible for upholding standards for network and application security, redundancy, resiliency as well as documented procedures for any critical events that require remediation.
  • Contribute to work with business analysts, support specialists, and the user community to confirm infrastructure and configuration is consistent with business requirements.
  • Track the progress and quality of work being performed in current project management / work effort software (PSA)
  • Track, communicate & manage contemplated change notices and change orders (changes in the scope of work)
  • Be accountable for time and all work efforts entered in PSA for self
  • Communicate ideas for improving department processes with a positive and constructive attitude, and for developing this attitude in others
  • Keep Infrastructure Leadership informed about work efforts and challenges that may affect business relations
  • All other duties as assigned.


EXPERIENCE:

  • One to three years of combined professional IT infrastructure experience required in Systems Administration, Network Administration, Security Administration that demonstrates an ability to learn and grow.
  • Network and Systems administration skills, high-level understanding of databases, web applications, datacenter operations and core business applications.
  • Experience with multi-location business enterprise and technical centralization


EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
  • Bachelor or Associate Degree in Information Technology major from an accredited institution of higher learning or equivalent.
  • verifiable experience in the technology field demonstrating ability to advance and continuously learn.
  • Information Technology related certifications considered a plus for this role; focus on network and systems administration (Microsoft, Cisco, VMware, A+, Net+, etc.).


SUPERVISOR:

This position reports to the IT Infrastructure Manager and ultimately to the Managing Director of Information Technology
