National Lacrosse League (NLL)

NLL.com Writer & Reporter

The NLL.com Writer & Reporter will convey the best stories of the league to our fans. This individual will be responsible for researching, pitching, and writing compelling stories that grow the game and enhance the League’s content. It’s crucial that they “live the sport” and are well connected within the League’s players, coaches and team executives.

This candidate will need to be aligned with League initiatives and priorities and be able to represent the brand values of the NLL.

This is a freelance role for remote work in a fast-paced environment with high volume of work and tight deadlines. Hours includes nights and weekends.

This individual’s work will start with written content, but could also include fan-facing video & audio content

Preferred Qualities

  • 2-4 years of professional writing experience, preferably in either box or field lacrosse
  • Love for lacrosse and the desire to grow the game and League
  • Strong rolodex within the NLL and deep knowledge of its players
  • Ability to quickly navigate social media to spot news and find additional information after a story breaks
  • Savviness for industry trends and competitor offerings to ensure NLL’s content remains innovative and competitive.
  • Experience handling sensitive or high-pressure situations with professionalism and tact.
  • Extensive experience in content management systems (especially WordPress) and story building softwares
  • Formulate informed and entertaining analysis and commentary off the sport’s latest news and hottest topics
  • Write features that can range from deeply analytical to informative
  • Willing to work non-traditional hours
  • Able to handle multiple projects within a tight deadline
  • Strong working knowledge of best practices in social video, particularly for Instagram, Instagram Stories, TikTok, X and Facebook
  • Strong Communication required
  • Experience working on a remote team a plus

Nice to Haves

  • Video Editing experience on Nonlinear systems (Premiere, Avid, Final Cut, etc)
  • Awareness of Grabyo for finding games and editing content
  • Podcasting experience – development and execution
