Non Agency Underwriter - Remote | WFH

Position Overview

Join our dynamic team as a Non-Agency Underwriter, where you'll play a crucial role in evaluating and underwriting a diverse range of mortgage loan applications. In this role, you'll utilize your expertise to ensure loan packages are processed efficiently and accurately, while helping to maximize organizational success and minimize risk.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze credit histories, financial statements, and other pertinent information to make informed decisions on loan applications.
  • Collaborate with team members to identify solutions and exceptions for loan files that may need additional consideration.
  • Interpret and assess complex tax returns and financial documents with a keen eye for detail.
  • Stay updated on program changes and new guidelines, implementing them seamlessly into daily tasks.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external clients.
  • Keep abreast of available loan products and program guidelines to offer informed support.
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with security policies.
  • Mentor and support fellow underwriting team members as needed.
  • Utilize DU and LP underwriting systems effectively.
  • Manage financial data entry, retrieval, and analysis using computer systems.
  • Foster constructive and cooperative working relationships, contributing to a positive team environment.
  • Actively participate in departmental discussions to enhance efficiency.
  • Be prepared to work overtime when necessary to meet deadlines and complete tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least two years of experience in mortgage loan underwriting.
  • Proficiency with DU and LP underwriting systems.
  • Experience in a production environment with established quotas.
  • Comprehensive understanding of FNMA and FHLMC guidelines, along with in-depth knowledge of loan products.
  • Ability to maintain high-quality control standards while meeting production expectations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including proper spelling, composition, and grammar.
  • Excellent multitasking, prioritization, and ability to work well under pressure with minimal supervision.

Physical and Work Conditions

  • Standard office environment, including work at a computer terminal.
  • This role involves a mix of sitting and walking throughout the day.
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed to complete tasks.
