Bgesh is looking for an eager and qualified Occupational Therapist in support of the US Army Institute for Surgical Research (USAISR), Burn Center at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC), Ft Sam Houston, Texas.

QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
Must be a graduate from an accredited program in Occupational Therapy
Required Experience
One (1) year experience in Occupational Therapy
A current, valid Occupational Therapy license (or eligibility to acquire a license) for the state of Texas, in good standing
BLS through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Must possess the ability to read, write and speak the English language
Must have common working knowledge of all rules, laws and regulations as defined by the state as it relates to occupational therapy
Preferred Experience
Prior experience working with burn patients, especially in the areas of
Custom splint fabrication
Serial casting for protection
Contracture mitigation
DUTIES
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Provides rehabilitative, skilled and medically necessary treatment intervention to patients with burn and/or wound care per regulatory and clinical practice requirements.
Provides all aspects of occupational therapy services including assessment of patients, evaluating the effectiveness of care and changing, modifying treatments as necessary.
Develops treatment plans based on general information from consults and takes into consideration patients' physical and mental conditions, cooperation and various psychological factors
Conducts and documents a thorough functional patient assessment utilizing standardized procedures.
Develops and implements an individualized treatment plan based on patient needs and containing achievable functional goals
Provides occupational therapy treatments by following the plan of care
Revises treatment plans, as needed, throughout the treatment process
Effectively communicates with supervisor and other health team members regarding patient progress, barriers, and treatment plans
Implements and maintains occupational therapy protocols
Properly instructs patients on correct exercise technique
Provides comprehensive discharge summary of services provided per regulatory and clinical requirements
Provides home programs and other educational information to patient and support systems prior to discharge
Documents all regulatory and clinically required information in the electronic documentation system and maintains patient records according to company policy
Accurately records treatment for services provided per all regulatory and clinical requirements
Participates in required meetings including but not limited to: patient care conferences, utilization review meetings, rehabilitation meetings, etc.
Participates in facility and company required trainings, in-services and conferences.
