QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
- Must be a graduate from an accredited program in Occupational Therapy
- One (1) year experience in Occupational Therapy
- A current, valid Occupational Therapy license (or eligibility to acquire a license) for the state of Texas, in good standing
- BLS through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Must possess the ability to read, write and speak the English language
- Must have common working knowledge of all rules, laws and regulations as defined by the state as it relates to occupational therapy
- Prior experience working with burn patients, especially in the areas of
- Custom splint fabrication
- Serial casting for protection
- Contracture mitigation
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Provides rehabilitative, skilled and medically necessary treatment intervention to patients with burn and/or wound care per regulatory and clinical practice requirements.
- Provides all aspects of occupational therapy services including assessment of patients, evaluating the effectiveness of care and changing, modifying treatments as necessary.
- Develops treatment plans based on general information from consults and takes into consideration patients' physical and mental conditions, cooperation and various psychological factors
- Conducts and documents a thorough functional patient assessment utilizing standardized procedures.
- Develops and implements an individualized treatment plan based on patient needs and containing achievable functional goals
- Provides occupational therapy treatments by following the plan of care
- Revises treatment plans, as needed, throughout the treatment process
- Effectively communicates with supervisor and other health team members regarding patient progress, barriers, and treatment plans
- Implements and maintains occupational therapy protocols
- Properly instructs patients on correct exercise technique
- Provides comprehensive discharge summary of services provided per regulatory and clinical requirements
- Provides home programs and other educational information to patient and support systems prior to discharge
- Documents all regulatory and clinically required information in the electronic documentation system and maintains patient records according to company policy
- Accurately records treatment for services provided per all regulatory and clinical requirements
- Participates in required meetings including but not limited to: patient care conferences, utilization review meetings, rehabilitation meetings, etc.
