The Role
The Operations Manager directs overall production operations ensuring the achievement of objectives at the lowest cost consistent with quality standards and customer requirements. Monitors practices, procedures, and outputs with a continuous improvement mindset and adjusts to achieve optimal manufacturing outcomes. Works closely with team members and cross functionally to build strategies to maximize performance.
What You Will Do
- Directly leads a team of salaried shift managers to successfully deliver results in Safety, Quality, Output, Cost and positive employee relations.
- Closely monitors operational output measures (i.e. OEE/PR, labor cost, scrap, product quality holds, safety incidents) and develops tactics and strategies to improve
- Supports and drives the continuous improvement strategy
- Effectively manages the execution of the production plan and relevant support activities
- Ensures that policies, procedures and systems are in place to ensure continuous operations, proactive maintenance and timely problem resolution
- Develops and implements both short-term and long-term plans to align with departmental and operations strategies
- Ensures effective communications and relationships are developed and maintained with support functions
- Responsible for the development of operations personnel through effective training, succession planning, performance reviews and accountability
- Develop robust work teams to support the growth of the business and the manufacturing site by hiring, supervising, motivating, coaching, mentoring, setting expectations and providing fair accountability
- Meets regularly with direct reports to set goals and monitor progress towards goals
- Ensure all employees follow industry standard and company health and safety guidelines
- Actively participates and supports all Safety initiatives within the plant, while engaging team members in these activities
- Ensures compliance with all company policies and procedures (EEO, Sexual Harassment, Safety, Quality, etc.)
- Role may require off-shift and weekend work as needed

- Bachelor’s degree - business operations management, or similar field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of cross-functional experience in a manufacturing leadership position
- CPG experience is a must
- Proven experience with Continuous Improvement (i.e. Lean, Six Sigma, TPM)
- Address systematic manufacturing issues through Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) processes
- Implement and maintain shop floor organizations programs like 6S
- Lead Tiered Management review processes to drive performance and eliminate waste
- Ability to deliver results and lead people/projects in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast paced environment
- Excellent organizational and planning skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with all levels of management and staff.
- Excellent presentation skills, negotiation skills
- Ability to coach and mentor employees on a one-on-one basis, as well as a group
- Lead others through the highest qualities of ethics, values, integrity, and trust
- Advanced critical thinking skills
- Advanced continuous learning capabilities
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
