EdAdvance is one of Connecticut's six Regional Educational Service Centers (RESCs). EdAdvance is also a partner in the RESC Alliance and works collaboratively with the other RESC groups to support state-wide initiatives.

Job Description: EdAdvance is seeking a Parent Educator for the Plymouth FRC. The qualified candidate will be professional, organized, and able to work independently and within a team. The Family Resource Center (FRC) provides school-based family support programs in Plymouth to strengthen the bond between the family and school, nurture the healthy development of the family, and prepare children for school.

Major Responsibilities
- Assist the Family Resource Center in implementing the Families in Training component and the Support and Training for Family Daycare Providers component
- Recruit and retain families including family daycare providers to participate in playgroups and family events
- Plan and conduct playgroups, family events, etc.
- Plan and conduct home/personal visits with families in need of home-based services
- Conduct developmental screenings with families on children in playgroups and make appropriate referrals for services as needed
- Provide child development information, support services and referrals for families
- Participate in workshops, school/community meetings, and conferences
- Assist in the FRC’s NAEYC preschool and other FRC events.
- Regular and consistent attendance is considered an essential function of this position
- Knowledge of child development, parenting, and community resources
- Experience working with families and children
- Verbal communication and writing skills
- Knowledge of computers and data entry
- Experience in community collaboration
- BS/BA degree in Child Development, Early Childhood, Elementary Education, Social Services or related field
- Certification as a National Parents As Teachers endorsed Parent Educator, preferred, but will provide.
- CPR/First Aid trained (provided)
- NFSN Standards of Family Strengthening and Support Certification (provided)
- Required to stand, bend, and kneel throughout the day
- Arrange classroom furniture based on needs of children and curriculum
