Lead, plan, direct, and manage the personnel, resources, and performance of the Park Operations Division including the operation and maintenance of City park properties and facilities, urban forestry responsibilities, and Park Maintenance Headquarters.
Job Responsibilities
Plan, organize, implement and direct the activities of the Park Operations Division including prioritizing and reviewing work of subordinate supervisors, developing and evaluating maintenance programs, and coordinating division activities with other entities intra- and interdepartmentally.
Prepare, recommend, and monitor the division budget. Participate in the development of strategic short- and long-range goals, plans, and park system maintenance priorities.
Plan, assign, direct, and review work. Manage and develop team. Supervise employees and make recommendations relative to hiring, promotions, discharge, layoffs or suspensions, disciplinary actions, the adjustment of grievances, and employee performance evaluations.
Represent the department at community events, City Council meetings, various board meetings, and meetings with athletic associations, the local school districts, business community, and neighborhood organizations.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in park, forestry, or recreation administration, public administration, or related field and a minimum of five (5) years’ progressively responsible experience in park and recreation administration, three (3) of which are in a supervisory capacity; or any combination of education, experience, and training that may be acceptable to the hiring authority.
Possession of a valid driver’s license is desirable.
