Job Title: Court Reporter

Location: Superior Court of Hall and Dawson County, Northeastern Judicial Circuit, Georgia

Job Description: The Judicial Branch of the Northeastern Judicial Circuit is seeking a dedicated Court Reporter to join our team. This role involves capturing legal proceedings with precision and providing accurate and complete transcripts. The successful candidate will support the Superior Court of Hall and Dawson County, playing a crucial role in the judicial process.

Responsibilities:

  • Take verbatim recordings of court proceedings using stenographic equipment.
  • Set up, connect, and ensure the proper operation of real-time recording equipment before proceedings.
  • Prepare certified written and electronic verbatim transcripts, including proofreading, editing, and attaching trial exhibits.
  • Certify the accuracy and completeness of transcripts and file them in accordance with the Georgia Judicial Council Policies and Guidelines.
  • Maintain and record trial exhibits, ensuring their security during and after court sessions.
  • Respond to transcript requests and communicate with court staff, attorneys, and the public regarding transcript matters.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D., plus specialized training in court reporting.
  • Professional certification as a Registered Professional Reporter (RPR) from the National Court Reporters Association (NCRA) or Certified Verbatim Reporter (CVR) from the National Verbatim Reporters Association (NVRA).
  • Licensed as a Certified Court Reporter (CCR) by the Board of Court Reporting of the Judicial Council of Georgia.
  • At least two years of reporting and transcription experience in a judicial environment.
  • Proficiency in using personal computers and court reporting software.
  • In-depth knowledge of legal and medical terminology, as well as laws, rules, and regulations related to court reporting and transcription.

  • Accurately capture spoken words, gestures, and actions during court proceedings.
  • Prepare complete and precise transcripts of trials and hearings.
  • Manage the storage and security of all trial exhibits and transcripts.
  • Meet designated timelines for transcript production and distribution.
