Part-Time Next Gen Stats Researcher

The NFL's Next Gen Stats team is seeking an experienced researcher to help develop storylines using Next Gen Stats data to support our various platforms at NFL Media including NFL Network, NFL.com, NFL+ along with integrating Next Gen Stats data into live game telecasts with our broadcast partners. The Next Gen Stats Researcher will work as a vital liaison between Next Gen Stats and NFL content teams. The ideal candidate will have a background in research, statistics and analytics while being an avid football fan with extensive knowledge of the players and game, and someone who feels comfortable mining data for stories. Candidates must be self-motivated and work well under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver weekly game preview packets to broadcasters breaking down matchups and highlight key team tendencies, strengths, and weaknesses.
  • Collaborate with third-party broadcast partners to provide them with engaging Next Gen Stats narratives and supporting data.
  • Serve as the Next Gen Stats liaison to NFL owned and operated content teams, from studio production to digital videos, helping integrate NGS data to support and drive narratives.
  • Develop original storylines and datapoints that provide statistical analysis of events, news stories and topical issues.
  • Maintain and continue to improve Next Gen Stats research dashboards.
  • Recognize and anticipate league and team trends, applying appropriate statistics to create content.
  • Assist in ideation, execution, and validation of new metrics to add to the Next Gen Stats toolbox.
  • Ensures accuracy of data before distribution.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field
  • Extensive football knowledge required
  • Comfortable working with large sets of data
  • Must excel collaborating in a team environment
  • Must be able to communicate information accurately
  • Must be able to adhere to strict deadlines and react to breaking news
  • Strong attention to detail

Required Qualifications

  • Experience using football statistics to build analysis
  • Ability to quickly learn new systems and programs
  • Experience in sports media
  • Previous work experience working for or covering the NFL
  • Coding skills are advantageous, but not necessary
  • Thorough knowledge of football media landscape, including emerging platforms and competing properties

Terms / Expected Hours of Work

  • Maximum 29 hours a week
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including weekends (Sundays)

Salary / Pay Range

The NFL expects to hire for this position near the middle of the range. Only in truly rare and exceptional circumstances, where an external candidate has experience, credentials or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position, would the NFL consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range.

Salary

$31—$34 USD
