Job Summary
This role will be responsible for supporting the Intellectual Property group with various aspects of patent preparation, prosecution, and portfolio management.
Job functions include but are not limited to:

We're currently looking for a Patent Engineer to join our team in Farmington Hills, MI.
Job Summary
This role will be responsible for supporting the Intellectual Property group with various aspects of patent preparation, prosecution, and portfolio management.
Job functions include but are not limited to:
- Regularly meet with vehicle design/research staff to identify potentially patentable features, components, and processes from various technologies.
- Conduct patentability searches, freedom to practice searches, and patent infringement investigations.
- Manage the preparation and prosecution of patent applications by developing filing strategies and overseeing the work of outside patent counsel.
- Assist in the execution of corporate patent awareness and recognition initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering
- United States Patent and Trademark Office registration
- Experience with drafting and/or analyzing patent claims
- Excellent presentation/communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and work proactively
- Previous in-house or law firm patent experience
- Previous or current law school coursework (Juris Doctor achievement a plus)
- Previous experience with automotive technologies including autonomous vehicle controls and connected vehicle systems.
