Responsibilities
- Manage and execute the semi-monthly payroll processes accurately and on time for an organization of 200+ employees
- Review and verify timekeeping records for accuracy and completeness
- Post labor costs to the appropriate cost centers or projects
- Coordinate efforts between HR and other departments to ensure proper flow and maintenance of employee data, including preparation /distribution of detailed reports
- Handle employee administration within electronic time keeping system (Jamis)
- Reconcile labor batches against payroll journal entries
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations
- Prepare and submit payroll reports and filings as required
- Proven experience as a payroll administrator or similar role, with a strong understanding of payroll principles and practices.
- Knowledge of government contracting requirements and compliance issues related to payroll
- Stay updated on changes in payroll laws and regulations, especially those relevant to government contractors
- Add new employees into accounting software, and maintain/ensure employee data is accurate and up to date
- Prepare, process and ensure the accuracy of all year-end payroll requirements
- Process accruals
- Manage state registration process
- Assist with ad-hoc financial reporting, reconciliation and analysis as needed
- Assist in administrative and other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- Experience with multi-state payroll administration
- Three (3) plus years in payroll performing all payroll functions
- Knowledge of multiple-state taxation is a must
- Excellent skills using MS Word and Excel
- Strong skills using and understanding the flow of transactions in an integrated and automated payroll system
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion
- Excellent problem-solving skills and high level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience with large scale payroll process
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with JAMIS, Paychex or ADP preferred
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification
- Experience with implementation of a new payroll system preferred
