Mill is all about answering a simple question: how can we prevent waste? Less waste can save time, money, energy, maybe even our planet. And there's no better place to start than food. Food waste is one of the most solvable climate problems facing us today. Plus, our trash really stinks. It's gross, heavy, and our least favorite chore. At Mill we are striving to build a better environment for all, as we take on climate and kitchen change.

Mill is looking for a detail-oriented People Operations Coordinator dedicated to building an engaging and inclusive workplace where our team can thrive! In this role, you'll work closely with our People team to manage the smooth running of our office space, plan and execute intentional events to build belonging across the team, welcome new hires through a tightly-run onboarding program, and develop your HR skills as your support the breadth of People Operations in a growing start-up. And at Mill, your work will matter– you'll be part of the team working toward slowing the serious climate impact of food waste while you build an environment where people can find meaning as they grow their careers.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage our office space to maintain an excellent employee experience. Own our lunch and snack program, keep the space organized and welcoming during business hours, manage mail and deliveries, oversee our relationships with our property manager and janitorial staff, and be the first point of contact for employee needs throughout the day.
  • Own our onboarding program. Be a friendly face and first point of contact for new hires, schedule and manage the details of the onboarding calendar, own all administrative tasks related to onboarding, and bring an ownership mindset as you improve and develop the program over time.
  • Dream up and execute intentionally inclusive events and activities. From in-office happy hours to offsite parties to team-building activities, these touchpoints will help your colleagues build lasting connections in our San Bruno office and across satellite locations. Use your creativity, data from team feedback, and growing knowledge of industry trends to develop programs that speak to our company culture.
  • Support the details of our People Operations/HR program! From reviewing I-9s to managing offboarding to driving benefits enrollments, you'll have a hand in making our People program run smoothly. You'll gain exposure to the breadth of the HR function and learn a lot along the way!

About you:

  • You have at least 2 years of experience as a People Ops Coordinator, Office Manager, Recruiting Coordinator, or other role where you successfully managed the details of multiple programs and processes.
  • You are a strong communicator verbally and in writing and back up your words with action, keeping your stakeholders informed as you make progress on your commitments.
  • You know that details matter in driving a positive employee experience and building trust, and you naturally build out processes to make sure you're staying organized.
  • You have an ownership mindset and are comfortable looking beyond your to-do list to ask questions, anticipate needs, and advocate for improvements as our company grows and evolves. You see challenges as opportunities for learning and growing.
  • You love connecting with people, understanding their needs, and being a friendly face in the office. You look for opportunities to increase inclusion and belonging wherever possible.

This role is required to be in-office in San Bruno Monday through Thursday.
