Objective

The intern will assist with special projects in TruAmerica’s Human Resources department, focusing on initiatives to support Corporate and Field operations with an intent focus on Talent Management. The intern will ideally work in creative spaces within the scope of Talent initiatives for HR/OD in the Los Angeles Corporate Office. This is not a remote position and with no option for remote work. 

The Human Resources Internship provides a distinctive chance to delve into the multifamily real estate realm by engaging in valuable and impactful HR projects. The position will gain insights into the metrics essential for determining hiring requirements and skill sets that contribute to the attainment of company objectives, attracting top-tier candidates, and integrating new employees in a well-organized and career changing environment.


Tasks and Responsibilities


Talent Management

  • Assist with the recruitment process, including posting job requisitions, updating, and formatting job descriptions.
  • Works with the Chief People Officer (CPO) and People Operations department to design and develop recruitment materials to attract potential candidates.
  • Assist with other marketing opportunities such as creating social media posts and content to generate candidate flow.
  • Updates weekly talent stats within our talent deck and staffing report.
  • Interested in learning, retaining, and applying knowledge of recruiting laws, regulations, and employment law in all states the firm employs colleagues (Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, Nevada, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, Pennsylvania).


Applicant Tracking Systems

  • Accountable for acquiring and maintaining knowledge of applicant tracking systems (ATS) and other recruitment software tools.


Onboarding

  • Provide perspective on the employee onboarding experience and provide useful and relevant feedback to support TruAmerica’s hiring initiatives.


Additional Duties

  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.


Skills and Abilities


Technical Skills

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook).


Creative Skills

  • Strong eye for creation, marketing, and editing preferred.


Communication and Resourcefulness

  • Proactive and independent with the ability to take initiative.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate resourcefulness and resilience when faced with challenges or unexpected situations.


Time Management

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and handle unexpected projects as they arise.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Proven ability to be proactive and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to catch errors and inconsistencies in work.
  • Demonstrated discretion and the ability to handle confidential matters with sensitivity and professionalism.

Compensation

The candidate will work approximately 30 hours per week at $30 to $40 per hour based on experience.
