POSITION SUMMARY

Bartz-Altadonna’s Community Health Center (BACHC) is a federally qualified health center (FQHC) that provides comprehensive medical care and specialty services for HIV and Hepatitis C for low-income, uninsured, underinsured, and unhomed persons.

Under the direction of the CEO, the Pharmacy Manager/Pharmacist-in-Charge is responsible for supervising and directing pharmacy operations, managing pharmacy staff (e.g., pharmacists, technicians, clerks), and ensuring compliance with all Federal and State laws and regulatory requirements. This role oversees the daily operations of medication dispensing and ensures inventory management is accurately monitored from a quality, cost, and safety perspective.

Qualifications:

  • Pharmacist degree (PharmD or Bachelor) from an accredited school of pharmacy.
  • Registered/licensed by the California Board of Pharmacy with a current and clear license.
  • Prior experience as a Pharmacist-in-Charge/Manager or equivalent preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of pharmacist experience in a retail pharmacy setting.
  • Experience working with underserved communities such as undocumented workers, unaccompanied minors, LGBTQ+ populations, communities of color, youth/adolescents, and those experiencing homelessness, substance abuse, and/or mental illness is preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred (oral and written fluency is desired)

Responsibilities:

340B program management:

  • Maintain and provide oversight of 340B requirements for eligible patients and maintain proper inventory management and special billing conditions.
  • Ensure compliance with the 340B program, prevent diversion and duplicate discounts, and ensure savings are directed to eligible patients.
  • Conduct periodic self-audits to ensure compliance with the 340B program and state laws and regulations as set by the state board of pharmacy.
  • Ensure hazardous waste and expired medications are treated according to local, state, and federal regulations.

Management and supervision:

  • Manage pharmacy staff and oversee daily operations of the pharmacy department.
  • Monitor and train staff pharmacists on state laws and 340B program aspects, delegating tasks as necessary (preferred)
  • Ensure the ratio of technicians to pharmacists complies with state laws.
  • Promote a team-based work environment that respects, embraces, and values diversity.

Strategic and financial management:

  • Assist CEO with developing and implementing strategic initiatives to grow the pharmacy business through excellent customer service, customer retention, and new customer enrollment.
  • Demonstrate sound financial management skills and accurate claim submission.
  • Oversee purchase requisitions, wholesaler orders, and monitor inventory flow processes.

Compliance and quality assurance:

  • Prepare the pharmacy for unannounced Board of Pharmacy audits, ensuring all licenses are valid and active, and that all aspects of the audit comply with state laws and regulations.
  • Support CEO and other clinic staff in preparing for HRSA, OSV, OPA, county, and other required audits.

Other responsibilities:

  • Complete annual inventory reflecting items and prices as required.
  • Review expiration dates and manage the return of near-expiration medications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or modified as business needs dictate.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65.00 - $75.00 per hour
