Assist pharmacists in all operations of the pharmacy including processing, sale, and delivery of prescription medications, maintenance of patient pharmacy records, and drug inventory and supply ordering and maintenance. Pharmacy technicians will not perform any duties that can legally be performed only by a pharmacist. All pharmacy technicians will work under the supervision of a pharmacist.

Work cooperatively with clinic and pharmacy staff
Handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule
Set priorities and solve problems

Assist in meeting the pharmaceutical care needs of the patient populations served by the organization
Procures and distributes medication orders per patient request, pharmacist request, provider request, or prearranged work assignment with a 95% accuracy rate according to established policies, procedures, and protocols
Perform data entry, process insurance claims, and fill prescriptions accurately and in a timely and efficient manner
Correctly count, pour, measure, package, and label medications when filling prescriptions
Accurately and efficiently enters patient information to maintain patient records.
Completes sales of prescriptions maintaining confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
Maintain adequate stock of medications and supplies according to established policies and procedures
Assist in ordering, receiving, unpacking, and storing medications and supplies in appropriate locations
Rotate stock to ensure use before expiration date
Identify and return any outdated and unusable medications
Restock medications accurately within specified time periods
Contribute to the effective operation of the department
Enters prescription information into pharmacy computer system accurately
Completes prescription sales transactions
Organizes and prioritizes work assignments
Keeps pharmacy areas clean, neat, and well-organized; keeps pharmacy equipment clean and reports any malfunctions to direct supervisor
Maintains patient, prescription, and other required documentation accurately and documents in appropriate locations
Answers the telephone, identifying self and department and answer patient request and directs calls to appropriate personnel
Provides high quality customer service and answer pharmacy related inquiries in person and on the phone in a timely and efficient manner
Participates in the quality improvement activities of the department
Report any prescription errors or any other discrepancies to the pharmacist on duty according to current policies and procedures
Assists in shipment or delivery of medication order processes when necessary
Will act as a back-up driver for the delivery of prescription medications utilizing the NFP vehicle when needed
Maintains patient rights and confidentiality at all times.
Completes all required continuing education needed to maintain technician license in good standing.
Must have an awareness of and sensitivity to the cultural diversity of the population served.
Completes other tasks as assigned by Director of Pharmacy or supervising pharmacist.
Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
High school diploma, GED or foreign school diploma equivalent to a U.S. high school diploma.
Must be registered as either a Registered Pharmacy Technician or Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Pharmacy Board.
Computer experience sufficient to perform data entry functions.
Must be able to meet credentialing requirements and successfully complete credentialing process.
Current BLS certification required.
Current valid driver’s license. NFP will perform a Ohio MVR annually for insurance purposes
