Job Description:
Basic Qualifications:
- Previous experience working as a photo editor.
- Extensive experience with photo editing software and digital technology.
- Proficient in digital photography, editing, color/composition, and photographic techniques.
- Ability to manage multiple tight deadlines and demonstrate leadership skills.
- Strong eye for identifying high-quality images and photographic content.
- Ability to multitask and occasionally work late nights and weekends.
Required Education:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Arts or Science.
Skills:
- Proven ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Quick learner who can take direction, work under pressure, and function well in a team environment.
- High sense of responsibility for safeguarding valuable, fragile, and confidential materials.
- Research skills in cataloging and filing, and the ability to assist and troubleshoot archival information for users and researchers.
- Strong working knowledge of both analog and digital photography and image retouching.
- Familiarity with the history, policies, and procedures relevant to the organization.
- Proficiency in in-house procedures for handling original photography, including retouching images.
- Competence in still image editing for project readiness, including color correction, cropping, and cleaning dust and scratches from archival images to recover the original artist’s intent.
- Preparation of modern collection photography, including cleanup, retouching, and background removal.
- Ability to work on project-based requests with fast turnaround times and ongoing work to prepare selected collections for future use.
- Experience in digitization and quality control, capturing projects using appropriate photography gear and techniques.
- Ability to add technical metadata, make necessary adjustments, perform quality control, and deliver files for digitization and preservation.
- Preparing incoming projects for digitization and assisting with other archival projects as needed.
- Due to the small size of the staff, all team members must assist with various projects as needed, encompassing a wide range of archival activities.
- Extreme attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
