Bgesh is looking for an eager and qualified Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) in support of the US Army Institute for Surgical Research (USAISR), Burn Center at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC), Ft. Sam Houston, Texas.

QUALIFICATIONS:    

EDUCATION

• Graduate from an accredited physical therapy assistant (PTA) or specialist program
  
  

Required Experience 

• One (1) year experience as a physical therapy assistant (PTA)
• Current, valid Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) license (or eligibility to acquire a license) for the state of Texas
• BLS through the American Heart Association
• Must possess the ability to read, write and speak the English language
• Must have common working knowledge of all rules, laws and regulations as defined by the state as it relates to PTAs
  
  

Preferred Experience 

• Prior experience working with burn patients
  
  

DUTIES 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.  

• Follows the patient care plan and provides physical therapy treatments under the direction of a license physical therapist
• Collaborates with the licensed physical therapist to assess and reassess patient’s plan of care, treatment goals and interventions
• Assists the physical therapist in supervision of rehabilitation aides
• Documents patient progress in daily notes and weekly notes (as applicable), as well as contributes recommendations to patient’s discharge note from physical therapy
• Reports on interventions and patient progress during assigned meetings and contributes to the screening and evaluation process
• Provides training to patients, caregivers, and families according to patient’s care plan
• Monitors patient activities to ensure they are performed correctly and safely
• Interacts and collaborates with a variety of professionals including physicians, nurses, case management, PT’s and SLP’s to optimize patient outcomes, custom service, functional abilities, and care.
• Participates in required meetings including but not limited to: patient care conferences, utilization review meetings, rehabilitation meetings, etc.
• Participates in facility and company required trainings, in-services and conferences
