Plant Controller

Position Overview:

A leading aerospace and defense manufacturing company is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Plant Controller to join our team in Greater Boston, MA. The Plant Controller will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations at our manufacturing facility, ensuring accurate financial reporting, budgeting, and cost management. This role is critical in supporting the plant’s financial health and aligning financial strategies with overall business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and company policies.
• Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop, implement, and manage annual budgets and forecasts. Monitor financial performance and provide variance analysis and actionable insights.
• Cost Management: Oversee cost accounting functions, including standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory control. Implement cost-saving initiatives and improve financial efficiency.
• Internal Controls: Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with corporate policies and regulatory requirements.
• Strategic Planning: Collaborate with plant management and corporate finance to develop and execute strategic plans. Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support decision-making.
• Auditing: Coordinate and support internal and external audits, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
• Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the plant finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
• Capital Expenditures: Monitor and control capital expenditure projects, ensuring alignment with budgetary constraints and strategic goals.
• Compliance: Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, including government contracts and Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) requirements.
• Stakeholder Management: Act as a liaison between plant management, corporate finance, and other departments, ensuring clear communication and collaboration.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 3 years in a manufacturing environment. Experience in the aerospace and defense industry is highly desirable.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills. Familiarity with cost accounting principles and financial analysis tools.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of GAAP, SOX compliance, and DCAA requirements.
• Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
• Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to present financial information clearly and concisely to non-financial stakeholders.
• Leadership: Proven leadership and team management skills. Ability to motivate and develop a high-performing finance team.
