Plastic Fabrication Technician

Job Description

The plastic fabrication technician will learn how to fabricate and fuse geomembrane liner panels and will learn how to custom fabricate sumps and berms out of HDPE pipe and HDPE plate and other geomembrane lining materials.

Job Requirements and Experience Current enrollment or recent graduation from Blanson CTE or equivalent trade school in a circulum consistent with the tasks identified in this job description.

All technician candidates must work safely and follow all safety rules and regulations and pass all preemployment, post-employment and random drug screens. All technician candidates must have reliable transportation so that they arrive on time for their work assignment.

Working Environment

All technician candidates must be able to lift pieces of equipment and materials weighing up to 45 pounds, climb stairs and ladders and walk up slopes and walk over uneven surfaces. Technicians must be self starters and must keep the pace of the other workers during their shift. Responsibilities

The Technician candidate must learn and demonstrate the duties and responsibilities listed below to the satisfaction of the fabrication supervisor. Other duties may be assigned. Maintain cleanliness of work areas and general housekeeping duties Lining up geomembrane panels to create the correct overlap Cleaning the liner and liner seams with brooms and rags when necessary Fuse overlapped sheets of liner with a hot air blowing device Buff the seaming area with a 4 1/2”angle grinder and 80 grit paper sanding disc Learn basic extrusion and fusion welding techniques and perform a passing preweld test Demonstrate quality control methods such as visual inspection and seam nondestructive testing Layout and build secondary containment berms Fuse HDPE T-Lock embedment strips Develop HDPE plate extrusion welding skills Follow all safety rules, regulations and instructions Wear the PPE appropriate for the task at hand Participate in the company’s behavioural based safety program
