Role description

We are seeking a seasoned and dynamic professional to join our team as a Portfolio Manager in the United States & Canada. This role is pivotal to the success of Novastone Capital Advisors, as it involves maximizing value by actively participating in the strategic decision-making processes of NCA’s portfolio companies and closely monitoring their performance throughout the investment lifecycle.


Main Responsibilities

Value Creation & Strategic Guidance:

  • Serve on the Board of Directors of NCA selected portfolio companies.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic growth and value creation plans.
  • Act as a ‘sparring partner’ for CEOs in building and executing value creation plans and potential exit strategies.
  • Provide strategic insights and guidance to ensure the alignment of company goals with broader organizational objectives.
  • Explore and implement joint value-creation initiatives between NCA portfolio companies.


Portfolio Monitoring & Oversight:

  • Track financial metrics, operational performance, and overall business health of portfolio companies.
  • Identify and manage potential risks by assessing market conditions, industry trends, and challenges that could impact performance.
  • Ensure portfolio companies are on track to meet their goals and deliver expected returns for investors.
  • Introduce applicable governance standards and compliance procedures across the portfolio companies' boards to ensure transparency and accountability.


Must Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance Economics, or related field.
  • Strong financial acumen and ability to track and analyze financial and operational performance metrics.
  • At least 10+ years of experience in a senior management position or as an operator of a company.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with CEOs and other senior executives.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and drive results.


Nice to Have

  • Experience in portfolio management and/ or M&A processes of mid cap companies, working at Private Equity, family offices, Investment Banks, or Consulting companies.
  • MBA or other advanced degree in finance, business administration, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of working with international companies and managing cross-border investments.
  • Previous non-executive board member background.
  • Entrepreneurial drive and own related experience.
