Role Description:
As a Prep Cook at Happier Grocery, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the kitchen operates smoothly and efficiently. Your primary responsibilities will include preparing ingredients, maintaining a clean work environment, and supporting the kitchen staff as needed. We value teamwork, flexibility, and a strong commitment to cleanliness.
Location: SoHo, New York
Responsibilities:
Prepare ingredients for cooking, including washing, peeling, cutting, and measuring.
Follow recipes and instructions from chefs to ensure consistency and quality in all dishes.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including workstations, equipment, and storage areas.
Assist with basic cooking tasks, such as blanching, boiling, and sautéing.
Ensure all food items are stored properly and comply with food safety standards.
Work collaboratively with kitchen staff to ensure efficient workflow and timely meal preparation.
Flexibly assist in various kitchen duties as needed, including dishwashing and waste management.
Adhere to all health and safety regulations within the kitchen.
Requirements
Proven 1-2 years experience as a Prep Cook
Training from a culinary school will be an asset
High school diploma or equivalent is desirable
Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage priorities and workflow
Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen
Attention to detail
Ability to work under pressure
Demonstrate a friendly, high-energy personality with a positive and team-oriented approach
Able to handle multiple tasks and works well in an environment with time constraints
Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, such as staying on your feet, climbing stairs, and carrying heavy objects
Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly frequent movements from place to place within the work area and property
Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards
