Private Equity Associate

Selby Jennings is working with a Kansas City based Private Equity firm that is seeking an Associate and a Vice President to join their team in 2024. This generalist firm invests in middle market companies within the business services, industrials, sports, tech, food & beverage and consumer sectors. They typically invest $20 - 75 million worth of equity for a controlling interest in their businesses.

Responsibilities:

• Sourcing and evaluating actionable investment opportunities.
• Managing the acquisition pipelines for current portfolio companies.
• Preparing investment committee reports to present to senior management.
• Conduct modeling and financial risk analysis of business opportunities.
• Perform ongoing competitive analysis and work closely with internal stakeholders to assist in the company's strategic decision-making process.

Qualifications:

• Undergraduate degree is required (MBA is not necessary for VP role)
• 1 - 3 years (Associate) or 5 - 7 years (VP) of relevant work experience in private equity, investment banking, or strategic management consulting.
• Strong accounting, financial modeling, and data analysis skills.
• Detail-oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to draft clear, concise, and comprehensive presentations and memoranda.
