Summary

Mironova Labs is seeking a Process Chemist to oversee the synthesis of prostaglandin derivatives. The candidate will work closely with the Director of Process Chemistry (a 40+ year industry veteran) and the Chemical Process Development (CPD) team, supporting R&D, analytical, kilo-lab, and production operations. This role requires strong independence, problem-solving skills, and the ability to troubleshoot production processes. The Process Chemist will collaborate with the CSO on process optimization and report directly to the COO.


Key Responsibilities:

Process Oversight:

  • Oversee the prostaglandin production and ensure efficient execution in kilo-labs using 20/50/100L reactors.
  • Troubleshoot production challenges and ensure smooth operation across cross-functional teams (R&D, Analytical, Kilo-lab, and Production Ops).
  • Monitor process parameters and ensure compliance with EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) standards.

Collaboration with Research Teams:

  • Work with the CSO and research team to optimize synthetic processes.
  • Provide process feedback and make necessary adjustments for improved efficiency and product yield.

Technical Proficiency:

  • Proficient in wet-chemistry lab experimentation, organic synthesis, and method development.
  • Utilize analytical techniques such as HPLC, LC-MS, NMR, and IR for process monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Assist in the interpretation of data and analytical results to ensure high-quality output.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate process documentation, including batch records, log sheets, and troubleshooting reports.
  • Report regularly to the COO on process status, challenges, and improvements.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure adherence to EHS and chemical hygiene best practices.
  • Maintain a safe working environment, adhering to all safety protocols in production and kilo-lab areas.


Required Experience/Demonstrated Capabilities

Education:

  • PhD in Organic Chemistry, Process Chemistry, or a related field with 2+ years of experience.
  • MSc in Organic Chemistry or a related field with 3-5+ years of experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related field with 5-8+ years of relevant experience in process chemistry.

Experience:

  • Proficiency in organic synthesis, wet chemistry, and process development.
  • Experience with kilo-lab operations, including working with large reactors and chromatography systems.
  • Proficiency in HPLC, LC-MS, NMR, and method development.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Understanding of GMP, regulatory compliance, and EHS best practices.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and handle equipment and materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Proficient in using laboratory equipment and computers for data entry and analysis.
  • Extensive and proven experience with small molecule synthetic route design, process development, scale up and optimization conducting multistep and multiscale syntheses while optimizing the yields of each step en route to target APIs from gram to kg scale
