**Role Description**


This is a full-time remote role for a Process Digitization Engineer (Controls + Software Development). You will be responsible for designing and implementing digital solutions to optimize manufacturing processes. This includes developing process control systems, analyzing data, and identifying areas for improvement. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support process engineering and ensure efficient operations.


**Location**: Remote (with travel to client sites as needed) or Fort Collins, CO  

**Type**: Full-Time or Part-Time with the potential to transition to Full-Time


**Compensation**: 

- Full-Time: $80k-130k/year depending on experience

- Part-Time: $33.65 - $57.69/hr

- Wages are reassessed annually based on skills and performance. Bonuses and profit sharing where feasible.


**Vacation**: 2 weeks/year depending on status (full-time vs part-time), increasing with tenure

**Qualifications**


- Degree in Physical Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Structural) or related field

- Strong background in process design and process control

- Excellent analytical skills for data analysis and problem-solving

- Experience in process engineering, preferably in manufacturing

- Proficiency in software development and programming languages

- Knowledge of data analytics and simulation

- Experience with process optimization and continuous improvement methodologies

- Ability to work independently and remotely

- Strong communication and collaboration skills


**Skills and Experience**


- 3-10 years of experience in Manufacturing, including Pharmaceuticals, Food & Beverage, Pulp & Paper, Bulk Chemicals, refining, and other similar industries

- Expertise in physical engineering, database management, machine learning, and process control systems

- Developing SQL databases, NoSQL databases, real-time data systems design, and database cluster systems for real-time analytics (e.g., Kafka)

- Proficiency in SolidWorks and competent in Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Finite Volume Method (FVM)

- Ability to solve Partial Differential Equations (PDE) and develop systems of equations to model physical engineering systems

- Skilled in data engineering and able to function as a full-stack developer

- Convert Jira tickets into working products, demonstrating commitment and accountability

- Strong experience with process control systems, including debugging ladder logic and remotely debugging instrumentation and process control issues

- Proficient in root cause analysis techniques and executing CAPAs

- Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing Techniques including: FMEA, and DMAIC for quality improvement and problem-solving

- Developing production code for APIs using both REST, WebSocket, and multiple programming languages/frameworks including C#/.Net, Python/Django

- Developing Docker containers and deploying to cloud environments

- Developing cloud infrastructure including Azure Functions, Lambdas, Postgres DBs, WebApps (Azure), and other common full-stack development services

- Developing applications for high-security implementation using MSAL and Azure B2C

- Implementing all code into CI/CD with Git and Bitbucket pipelines

- Deep understanding of machine learning algorithms and principles, with experience in frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch

- Knowledgeable in data preprocessing, feature selection, engineering, developing, evaluating, and improving machine learning models

- Familiarity with natural language processing, computer vision, or other machine learning specialties

- Understanding of the ethical implications of machine learning and AI

- Strong team player with excellent camaraderie spirit

- Ability to work in factory settings when appearing on-site for clients

- Ability to take calls after hours to support critical production issues

- Developing containers as data gateways for multiple protocol communications

- Knowledge of industrial protocols like Modbus, IO-Link, Profinet, etc.

- Experience developing, designing, and implementing new process operating schemes for Controls/Automation with multiple vendors, including AB/Rockwell (FactoryTalk, ControlLogix, RSLogix), Emerson Systems (DeltaV), and Siemens (TIA)

- Understanding of both Operational Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT) systems for enterprise software development and design

- Solid engineering fundamentals

- Developing servers and clients for OPC UA and MQTT and integrating these industrial protocols into real-time data systems
