The Process Engineer will play a critical role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations of our production facilities.


This position focuses on optimizing unit operations, defining capital projects, and collaborating with R&D to develop new products.


The engineer will lead efforts to improve reliability, support operational excellence, and work effectively with all levels of the organization, including plant operations, maintenance, customers, and suppliers.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Operational Support & Troubleshooting:

  • Provide process engineering assistance to address and resolve operational issues.
  • Work to minimize unit interruptions and maximize capacity utilization.
  • Perform hands-on support and troubleshooting for production issues.


2. Optimization & Improvement:

  • Study, define, and propose optimal production conditions to enhance cost and quality.
  • Monitor and analyze production processes to identify areas for improvement.
  • Recommend and design process tests to quantify unit performance and identify cost reduction opportunities.


3. Project Management:

  • Define scopes for small to medium capital projects.
  • Collaborate with R&D to support new product development.


4. Performance Monitoring:

  • Track the performance of production and pilot facilities.
  • Contribute to the development of preventative maintenance plans.


5. Compliance & Safety:

  • Ensure all process engineering activities comply with HSE regulations and policies.
  • Maintain working knowledge of site environmental standards and hazardous waste rules (RCRA).
  • Participate in safety audits, PSM, PHA, PSSR reviews, and incident investigations.


6. Data Analysis & Modeling:

  • Reconcile process data for analyzing unit and equipment performance.
  • Utilize process models to evaluate and implement cost-reduction strategies.


7. Liaison & Collaboration:

  • Act as a liaison for technological matters with R&D, operations, supply chain, suppliers, and customers.


Qualifications:

Education: B.S. or graduate degree in Chemical Engineering.


Experience: Minimum of 5 years in manufacturing or engineering.


Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency with Aspen or Matlab.
  • Familiarity with specialty polymers is a plus but not required.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, SAP, DCS, etc.


Regulatory Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with PSM and OSHA 1910 standards (HAZOP, SIL, PHA).


Other Requirements:

  • Strong safety and environmental orientation.
  • Experienced in interfacing with operators and foremen for optimization and troubleshooting.


HSE Requirements:

  • Perform required safety audits.
  • Attend site-wide safety/wellness sessions.
  • Review and perform required Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and "What-if" scenarios.
  • Complete all required computer-based training (CBTs) on time.
  • Participate in PSM, PHA, and PSSR field reviews and incident investigations.
  • Maintain knowledge of site environmental standards and hazardous waste rules (RCRA).
  • Stay informed about facility environmental plans (SPCC, Storm Water Pollution Prevention).
