Process Engineer required for an innovative battery cell manufacturer based in Northern California.

Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Process Engineer to join their team. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of lithium-ion battery cell manufacturing processes and will be responsible for designing, improving, and maintaining processes to ensure the production of high-performance, safe, and reliable battery cells.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and optimization of lithium-ion battery cell manufacturing processes, from electrode preparation to cell assembly.
- Establish and maintain rigorous quality control procedures to ensure that battery cells meet or exceed industry standards for performance and safety.
- Collaborate with materials scientists to evaluate and select materials for use in battery electrodes, separators, and electrolytes.
- Identify and recommend equipment and tools necessary for battery cell production, and oversee their installation and maintenance.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to scale up manufacturing processes from lab-scale to pilot-scale and ultimately to full production.
- Analyze data from experiments and production runs to identify trends, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions.
- Create and maintain detailed process documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and safety protocols.
- Ensure that all processes comply with safety regulations and environmental standards, and take the lead in addressing any safety concerns.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers to drive innovation and solve complex technical challenges.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in lithium-ion battery cell manufacturing processes and associated equipment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Excellent analytical and data analysis skills, with proficiency in relevant software tools.
- Knowledge of quality control and statistical process control methodologies.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to convey complex technical information clearly and concisely.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and environmental responsibility.
