BetterGood is dedicated to delivering high-quality software solutions with a focus on volunteer management. We believe in continuous learning, collaboration, and creating an environment where every team member can take pride in their work. Our approach is grounded in systems thinking, and we offer a remote work environment with strong support systems, competitive compensation, and a commitment to both personal and professional growth.
Role Overview
We are seeking an Agile Product Manager who will drive the product vision for our flagship software, VolunteerHub, while also taking on Scrum Master responsibilities. This is a unique role combining strategic product management with hands-on Scrum facilitation. The individual will play a crucial part in evolving our processes and systems, ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic goals while delivering maximum value to our customers.
Key Responsibilities
Product Vision and Strategy
- Lead and champion the long-term vision and strategy for VolunteerHub, ensuring that product enhancements align with BetterGood's strategic objectives and respond to evolving market opportunities.
- Monitor market trends, competitive pressures, and customer feedback to inform and refine the product roadmap.
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders (e.g., sales, marketing, customer support) and external customers to gather insights that drive product development.
- Manage and prioritize the product backlog, focusing on delivering the highest-value features to customers.
- Work with a UI/UX specialist to ensure that product features are intuitive and user-friendly.
- Maintain clear and ongoing communication with the development team to ensure alignment on the product vision and the value of each feature.
- Facilitate Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives, to keep the team aligned and focused on continuous improvement.
- Identify and remove impediments that hinder the team's progress, fostering a culture of open communication and collaboration.
- Encourage self-organization within the team and coach members on Agile best practices.
- Engage in cross-departmental meetings to ensure the product strategy is informed by insights from all relevant teams.
- Build consensus among stakeholders while balancing the need for decisive action when necessary. Final decision-making authority rests with this role, in consultation with higher management as needed.
- Work with management to design and refine processes that support your dual role, focusing on avoiding burnout and ensuring clarity in responsibilities.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts, developing processes that empower your work and gradually increase your autonomy over time.
- Embrace and contribute to BetterGood’s culture of continuous learning and systems thinking.
- Participate in regular 1-on-1 meetings with management to monitor workload and stress levels, and to discuss adjustments needed to maintain a healthy work-life balance.
- Proven experience as a Product Owner or Agile Product Manager, with a solid understanding of Agile methodologies.
- Experience in a Scrum Master role is highly desirable, especially in facilitating Scrum ceremonies and coaching teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a creative approach to product development and customer satisfaction.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build consensus across different departments.
- Ability to adapt and thrive in a dynamic, evolving environment, with a focus on continuous improvement and systems thinking.
- Experience working in a remote environment is a plus.
- Competitive salary.
- Generous benefits package, including health, dental, vision insurance, 401k plan, and professional development opportunities.
- Flexible work hours and a supportive remote work environment.
We do things differently here. We’re not interested in quick fixes or shortcuts or building features just for the sake of it. We’re focused on meaningful, sustainable improvement. If you’re looking for a place where you can dig deep into how things work, help people grow, and make a lasting impact, we’d love to talk.
