Summary

Meets with students individually or in small groups to provide academic support related to course content, course-related readings and course-related written assignments so students can successfully complete their coursework; as well as provides instruction, teaching and guidance in the area of academic success skills

Essential Job Functions

  • Tutors students on specific course content, course-related readings and course-related written assignments
  • Tutors students in the area of academic success skills (e.g. learning strategies, time management, etc.)
  • Coordinates tutoring goals with advisers, academic counselors and faculty to effectively meet student needs
  • Attends tutor training sessions and staff meetings, as applicable
  • Administers individualized tests to students with accommodations
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • Biology and chemistry knowledge and experience, including general chemistry, organic chemistry, general biology, as well as anatomy and physiology
  • Experience with teaching, professional tutoring or other related experience
  • Experience working with college students in lecture and lab courses
  • Experience with teaching/tutoring students with various learning styles and abilities

Qualified candidates must live or relocate within a daily commuting distance of the Charlotte Campus location upon hire.
