Job Title: Program Director

Job Summary:

The Residential Program Director will be responsible for leading a team of residential professional staff to administer top client care to youth with acute level behavioral conditions. The Residential Program Director ensures the provision of all service components including: the management, recruitment and supervision of team, budget and program utilization management, and oversight of milieu. Acute residential services are available to individuals up to and including 18 years of age. The program offers short-term, 24/7, staff-secure, safe, and structured crisis treatment services in a community-based program that serves as a medically necessary, less-restrictive, and voluntary alternative to inpatient psychiatric hospitalization.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To develop strong, supportive relationships with the clients and to work in shift when necessary.
  • To provide for client care and safety.
  • To interact with clients in order to assess needs, provide information, discuss problems, set limits and encourage growth and development.
  • Know treatment objectives for each client
  • To provide crisis intervention.
  • Ensure quality and consistency or the advocacy system
  • To adhere to program and agency policies and procedures.
  • To notify the Senior Administration immediately in the event of a crisis, suspected illegal activity, or any behavior constituting an incident in the Program
  • To adhere to program and agency policies and procedures.
  • To notify Program Director immediately in the event of a crisis, suspected illegal activity, or any behavior constituting an incident in the Program. Responsible for ongoing operation and supervision of shift personnel within the Gandara Residential Programs
  • Responsible for supervising, training, and holding accountable both programmatically and clinically all Direct Care Staff/Relief Staff including interns, volunteers, and trainees
  • Ensure adherence to departmental initiatives and philosophies (example Trauma Informed Care)
  • Work with staff to ensure non-coercive interventions are used
  • Work to reduce the frequency of physical restraint.
  • To perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director or Clinical Director

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences or related field preferred
  • At least three years of experience in Human Services preferred working with adolescents
  • Working understanding of Social Service Agencies and their functions
  • Demonstrated ability to work with collaterals and above Social Service Agencies
  • Past supervisory experience preferred
  • Must have valid driver’s license
  • Must meet Agency requirements for driving history records
