Project Engineer

BlackRock Resources is seeking a Project Engineer for our manufacturing client in Prineville, OR. This is a full-time, direct hire position.

Description/Job Functions

  • Identify, plan, implement and support capital projects related to manufacturing of entry door systems and components, targeting labor efficiency and increased capacity.
  • Become familiar with existing manufacturing processes and be able to identify areas of process improvement.
  • Evaluation of new manufacturing processes and methods to improve in plant operations.
  • Perform ROI's to determine feasibility of potential capital projects
  • Oversee project implementation using internal and external resources.
  • Design custom equipment utilizing 2D and 3D CAD systems (AutoCAD, DraftSight, and Solidworks preferred)
  • Accountable for the successful completion of engineering projects including: Establish project goals, budgets, timelines and scope, perform project monitoring and tracking.
  • Design/develop Automation and Mechanization projects, often in conjunction with outside machine integrators, including follow-up and involvement from conception to completion.
  • Facilitate the design, purchase, and implementation of machinery and equipment for manufacturing processes, as well as coordinate projects and improvements with Plant Operations.
  • Establish relationships with vendors to keep equipment updated and current with latest technology and improvements.
  • Assure compliance with governmental rules, codes, standards, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Participate in corporate business unit (as applicable) and plant efforts to maintain safe and orderly work environments.
  • Work with plants (or across business units as appropriate) to foster and develop teamwork in our efforts to be productive and drive improvements throughout our business.
  • Must be an effective project manager including resource planning, forecasting project cost and schedule completion.
  • Must support capital projects after delivery by working closely with operations and maintenance personnel.
  • Responsibilities of project start up include ensuring equipment and processes are safe and operations personnel have been well trained.
  • Support new product development with assistance in prototyping using existing plant resources and ensuring new product manufacturability
  • Must be capable of creating and maintaining technical documentation (operating and maintenance instructions, equipment specifications, etc.)
  • This position is based at our NC corporate campus but some travel (typically less than 15%) to other locations will be expected as needed to implement projects.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) or equivalent industry experience.
  • 5 - 10+ years experience in a manufacturing engineering or similar role.
  • Experience with continuous (one piece) flow manufacturing, standard work, and pull systems highly desirable,
  • Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD systems
  • Familiarity with PLC and HMI programming, support and troubleshooting
