Overview:

The Project Executive supports and assists the Director of Construction in monitoring, supervising and managing construction operations. The Project Executive is responsible for projects and customer accounts assigned to the respective Project Managers. The Project Executive must accept the final responsibility and accountability for the execution of all project contracts or customer accounts as assigned by Alterman management. Additionally, the Project Executive directs and leads project managers and other support staff assigned to specific Accounts or Projects under the Project Executive’s overall assigned responsibility.

Essential Functions

  • Account Management: 25%
  • Takes ownership and responsibility for assigned project managers and associated accounts.
  • Ensures long term customer satisfaction and maintains profitable growth with assigned project managers.
  • Evaluates bidding and negotiating opportunities of assigned project managers while communicating these opportunities with the Director of Construction.
  • Takes profit and loss responsibility for assigned projects or accounts.
  • Maintains effective communications with appropriate Alterman personnel, keeping them. informed of all aspects relevant to the duties to which they have been assigned.
  • Advises the Director of Construction of any significant problems encountered timely, along with recommended solutions.
  • Works with the Director of Construction to evaluate project manager performance.
  • Reviews and actively manages receivables on aging reports.
  • Project Manager Support: 35%
  • Assists with project set-up responsibility.
  • Assists with budgeting and Job Cost Entry for (material - labor – subcontracts - DJE).
  • Assists with scheduling (construction - material - labor - cash).
  • Assists with schedule of values (billing - cash flow).
  • Reviews job cost projections.
  • Assists with 25-50-75-90% project review meetings.
  • Monitors dispute/claim avoidance.
  • Interprets contracts.
  • Assists with change order proposals and quotations.
  • Maintains positive cash flow position through appropriate billings and collections.
  • Works with Director of Construction to staff and/or manage projects with back-up capabilities.
  • Attends project meetings.
  • Reviews estimates as needed to properly assist project manager, understand risks and labor requirements.
  • Assists with project kick-off meetings in conjunction with Estimating group.
  • Material Procurement Assistance: 10%
  • Monitors 200 P.O.’s (packages, bulk buys and subcontracts).
  • Monitors material/subcontract (invoicing and payment).
  • General Responsibilities: 30%
  • Participates fully in all Corporate and other training as required.
  • Oversees work and actions of all direct reports to ensure that the responsibilities listed in their job descriptions are completed in a timely and satisfactory manner.
  • Conducts performance management reviews with all direct reports.
  • Assumes additional tasks that are assigned by the manager, or which are logically inherent to this position.
  • Ensures that all duties in this position and those of team members reporting to this position, are carried out in compliance with Alterman’s stated mission, vision, values, safety standards, and company policies and procedures.
  • Works with the Director of Construction to identify "critical path activities" of this position and, when directed, prepares documentation of the major processes required to accomplish these activities and submits to manager for final approval.
  • Communicates information concerning operations to the Director of Construction so that all parties have a full understanding of overall project operations.
  • Actively pursues and generates business opportunities and cultivates relationships with both existing and potential customers, while ensuring complete customer satisfaction.
  • Maintains vendor relationships that enhance and protect the corporation's position, while working within both the company's policies and the current legal standards. This includes taking necessary precautions to avoid situations that could be construed as a conflict of interest or that could be deemed to be sufficient to unduly influence the employee's ability to make prudent decisions that are in the best interest of the corporation. If there are any questions concerning a specific situation, the employee's participation is to be approved in advance by the manager of this position.
  • Prepares monthly workforce projections in a consistent and timely fashion.
  • Monitors project labor productivity and budgets and takes appropriate action on a timely basis.
  • Works with the Director of Construction to arrange the selection and placement of key supervisors.
  • Monitors and enforces corporate safety policies.
  • Evaluates the performance of key supervisory personnel and addresses deficiencies timely, and makes changes needed to address problems with supervision or field productivity.
  • Pursues required continuing education necessary to the role.

Required Education And Experience

  • 5 years' experience in a project management position.
  • 6 years working and studying in the electrical construction industry.

Necessary Skills/Abilities

  • Capable user of accounting software program (project manager features).
  • Capable user of Primavera or project schedule in use.
  • Capable of reading, interpreting and understanding all contract documents, plans, specs and requirements.
  • Solid/basic knowledge of: National Electric Code; electrical engineering concepts/fundamentals; purchasing and buying; accounting; MS Word/Excel/Outlook; estimating program and change orders; job cost projections.
  • Working knowledge of trade terms, material, methods, codes, contract, and specification language and bidding methods.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective reasoning and judgement abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Sense of urgency and ability to aggressively deal with project conditions.
  • Ability to capitalize on opportunities.
  • The ability to successfully manage multiple customers, accounts, or multiple projects at one time.

Work Environment

  • Office environment with some travel required.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to use hands or fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; must be able to reach with hands and arms. Manual dexterity associated with computer data entry required.
  • Able to talk and hear.
  • Able to frequently sit.
  • Able to occasionally stand, walk, climb, balance, crouch or crawl, stoop, and kneel.
  • Able to safely operate a vehicle to travel to and from job sites.
  • Able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Able to safely maneuver in a construction environment.
  • Close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception are required.
