Job Description

Project Manager, Construction

Exciting Opportunity at MSK

We are seeking a Project Manager, Construction to join Design & Construction team. In this role, under general direction, you will manage project logistical activities and ensures management of contracted construction work throughout the MSKCC campus. Under the supervision of the Senior Project Manager, manages and is responsible for capital projects of limited scope.

Role Overview:

Manages project activities for capital projects of limited scope (< $5MM per year) and is responsible for budget, schedule and close-out.
  • Inspects construction sites to compare project documents with site conditions.
  • Supervises and coordinates all construction project logistical tasks, and plans and implements all closeout procedures.
  • Assists in setting up construction budgets by obtaining prices from contractors and vendors and subsequent monitoring.
  • Continually makes on-site inspection during the course of the project, evaluating schedule in terms of actual field progress, and ensuring that all appropriate details of projects are communicated between contractors and users.
  • Attends and / or schedules project meetings and ensures that minutes are documented.
  • Verifies proper filing of all applications and permits associated with the construction project with all State, City and Federal agencies. Ensures compliance of outside contractor’s work within the scope of the project.
  • Acts as a liaison with the entire Real Estate & Operations personnel during the course of the construction process.
  • Manages and is responsible for the bidding, procurement, and subsequent delivery and installation of capital project furniture and furnishings.

  • Key Qualifications:

    • Project Management, Engineering, or related “hospital” experience sufficient to create an ability to read and understand blueprints, floor plans and other technical renderings is preferred.
    • Project coordination skills are essential. Information management skills to communicate, explain, interpret, share, and / or present information to employees and management staff at MSKCC and appropriate external contacts.
    • Microsoft Office, Marksheet experience.
    • Administrative skills are required include attention to detail, time management, information processing, ability to plan and organize meetings, maintain files.
    • 2-4 years of hospital/medical center experience.

    • Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and ensure project milestones are met.

    • Location: 633 Third Ave. NYC
    • Reporting to Director, Design & Construction
    • Schedule: Hybrid at the office or construction site.
