Our Opportunity

The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for preparing and testing samples of cementitious underlayment, sound control mats, and cellular concrete. The Technician is also responsible for maintaining clear records of experimental findings and the maintenance of laboratory equipment. They must be able to follow and contribute to the writing of standard test procedures and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Test physical properties of sands and cements using standard ASTM methods including compression, water demand, slump, and flexural strength; as well as evaluate appearance and workability
  • Organize and maintain identification of samples originating from many locations. Maintain records of testing and prepare data summaries for internal and external customers
  • Prepare samples at a variety of scales for compatibility testing. Activities include mixing, pouring, cutting, and polishing cementitious materials
  • Maintain standard laboratory equipment, completing or scheduling regular calibration of instruments as required. Maintain inventory of standard laboratory supplies
  • Assist in field trials of new products and in on-site technical service as required

Skills And Experience

  • Technical degree or laboratory experience in a related field
  • Excellent organizational skills and record keeping; completion of sample testing and reports in a timely fashion
  • Clear communication of project status and issues; the ability to multitask and handle changes in priority
  • Ability to work both independently and to contribute to team projects; have a collaborative and positive attitude
  • Required software skills are Excel, Microsoft Office, and instrument data collection software
  • Work safely around chemicals, high temperatures, and power tools and equipment
