FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES


The primary responsibility of this position is to plan, manage and evaluate the quality control program of the Foundry. (may include the management of the metallurgical lab, if necessary). Responsible implementing and maintaining quality and process control systems, and the integrity and certification of all metal produced at Eagle Foundry. Incumbent has a close working relationship with Operations and Technical Services management. Establishes and maintains relationships with all Foundry Division customers to address their concerns and quality issues.


Lead, coach and develop staff; monitor and update quality control procedures

Responsible for keeping quality systems current and in compliance

Research and recommend methods and processes to improve all aspects of quality and cost improvements throughout the Division

Maintain process control program and all quality-related records

Schedule and direct supervisors’ quality meetings as well as internal audits

Responsible for incoming material inspection program and vendor certification

Other duties as assigned


Working Conditions/Physical Requirements: General shop and machine tool noise, dirt, grease, and coolants from the operation of machine tools, machines and equipment. Normal working position is standing or walking through out the plant. Some repetitive lifting/moving is required, depending on the daily assignment or tasks being performed. The weight can range anywhere from 5 to 50 lbs in which proper lifting/moving techniques are required.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES


In addition to the knowledge, skills and abilities of the QE:

Knowledge of ISO/Quality systems and Foundry Processes

Verbal/written communication and negotiating skills

Ability to read casting blue prints

Excellent problem solver

Knowledge of pressurized gating systems

Ability to implement an effective team environment

Six-sigma experience is a plus


MINIMUM EXPERIENCE


Bachelor’s degree or equivalent;

5 years of working in a quality control manufacturing department. Experience in a high production ferrous green sand foundry
