Quality Engineering Supervisor

Our client is an international manufacturer of stamped automotive products-They have an immediate need for a Quality Engineering Supervisor.

The Quality Engineering Supervisor is responsible to manage the day to day operation of the area assigned to him/her to ensure the quality of manufactured products meeting IATF 16949 standards. This includes but is not limited to supervising any Team Leads, Engineers, Quality Auditors, Techs, and any other associates assigned to his/her team.His/her focus will be in maintaining the Quality systems and ensuring the processes meet all customer requirements.

  • Coordinates all actions and activities to improve the quality management system and monitors implementation, with an ultimate goal of improving "zero defects".
  • Provides support to necessary manufacturing operations.
  • Identifies quality issues and drive corrective actions to resolve them.
  • Implements root cause analysis and provide recommendations for corrective action.
  • Ensures customer quality documentation.
  • Establishes quality related controls to track and measure critical processes within the plant.
  • Conducts internal training for quality.
  • Communicates customer requirements across the organization.
  • Oversees all aspects of quality assurance including establishing metrics, applying practices, and developing new tools and processes to ensure quality goals are met.
  • Acts as key point of contact for all QA aspects of releases, providing QA services and coordinating QA resources internally and externally.
  • Schedules all members of his/her team to ensure that production has the necessary support.
  • Leads and mentors team members
  • Verifies and validates countermeasures.
  • Collaborates with other QA staff to accomplish all daily QA tasks on-time with a high level of quality
  • Follows all guidelines set forth in our 5s training.
  • Other duties and responsibilities can be assigned based on company needs and skills level.


Competencies

  • Automotive Quality standard (ISO/IATF 16949) knowledge and experience
  • APQP knowledge and experience
  • Experience in inspection of equipment and techniques
  • Must have strong problem solving skills
  • Expertise in GD&T
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Experience with SAP ERP system
  • Good material handling knowledge
  • Experience performing audits (internal & external)
  • Reading of Engineering drawings
  • Application of customer standards


Supervisory Responsibility

The Quality Engineering Supervisor will be responsible for supervising any and all associates that work under him/her according to the Quality Organizational Diagram. Attendance scheduling, monitoring, training, and disciplining will be part of his/her responsibilities. He/she will also be responsible of supervising all team activities such as sorting, containment, production buy-offs, tool trials, Run@Rates, and all other Quality related activities.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and requires use of necessary PPE at all times while on the shop floor.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. In order to meet our customer’s demands this role may be required to perform work outside of business hours including weekends

Travel

Occasional domestic and international travel. Local (200 mile radius from vACCv) travel mandatory when needed or requested by manager.

Required Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering related field.
  • 2+ years of prior supervisory/managerial experience
  • Strong previous leadership role and experience.
  • Management of groups of 10+ associates
  • Microsoft Office proficiency required


Preferred Education And Experience

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering related field.
  • 3D modeling software(CATIA, Solidworks, etc.) preferred but not required
  • 5+ years of prior Quality experience in the Automotive Manufacturing industry


Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Strong Leadership skills. Must show flexibility and ability to work in an automotive industry pace environment. Coaching and training skills are necessary. Ability to conduct meetings with medium to largegroups (20+) and public speaking skills are necessary.
