This position will work on-site at our Corporate Office in Glendale, AZ.

Position Summary

Enhance the quality of life for our members/team members by meeting or exceeding their service expectations. Accountable for managing and mitigating losses to Credit Union West while providing financial counseling to members. Responsible for supporting the Financial Resolution Manager with ensuring that Credit Union West is compliant with applicable state and federal regulations. Responsible for supporting the collection of all delinquent consumer loans, mortgages, credit cards and other loans as well as locating and recovering collateral. Complete understanding of the default mortgage process including foreclosure remedies, related regulation, and other legal processes. Assists in preparing monthly Financial Resolution reports, presentations, and audit requests. Assist in preparing legal documents including bankruptcy process reviews and assignments to legal counsel.

Essential Functions & Additional Responsibilities

25% Collection of All Delinquent Mortgage and Consumer Loans – Serves as main point of contact for first mortgage servicer. Monitors mortgage servicer notes and payment arrangements. Ask appropriate fact-finding questions, research, and analyze members profile to determine if there is opportunity for assistance or recommend if more stringent collection actions should be taken. Assemble necessary loan modifications and extension documents before submission to management. Thorough knowledge of foreclosure regulations and related legal processes. Maintains and applies knowledge of credit union policies and procedures regarding first mortgages. Document all collection efforts and pertinent information from member communications and any other resources utilized.

Responsible for accessing reports from miscellaneous Purchase and Participation loan portfolio. Assist management with tracking and reporting status of delinquency, charge offs and recoveries from this portfolio. Must remain positive and resilient in difficult situations. Assist other employees in escalated calls and eliminate need to involve management. Full understanding and ability to explain payment history and contract structure on all loan types, i.e., consumer loans, home equity loans, and credit cards. Full understanding of Collateral Protection Insurance including coverage requirements and payment structure when premiums are added/refunded. Comply with internal policy and procedures and have knowledge of bankruptcy and lien laws as they apply to the collection process. Understand and follow debt collection regulations outlined by the FDCPA, CFPB and the TCPA.

30% Recovery - Responsible for the assignment of appropriate charged off loans to third party collection agency for recovery or litigation. Accurately process recovery payments and update credit reports as necessary. Review and negotiate settlement proposals in collaboration with management. Administrator for “In-house” recovery accounts including negotiating, tracking, follow up, payment processing, balancing, and credit report updates.

10% Credit Disputes and E-Oscar Reports - Manages and responds timely to all electronic disputes that are generated within the credit dispute portal. Effectively handle collection related disputes by email, phone, or mail. Maintain accurate record keeping of any incoming disputes. Ability to investigate and research any disputed content to ensure validity of reporting. Completes AUD credit bureau updates through E-Oscar as necessary. Stay up to date on training and courses provided in E-Oscar Learning Management System.

15% Assists in preparation of Collection Management reports and presentations - Assists with gathering reports and requested information from internal and external audits. Understanding and back up to board-approved charge offs: Balance Charge off GL with Accounting. Responsible for 1099-C and 1099-A tracking to ensure notices are mailed to appropriate recipients as required by the IRS.

15% Deceased Member Active Loans Reviews and Legal Process Reviews/Assignments - Manage and coordinate secured and unsecured loans of deceased members by assigning to appropriate Account Resolution Specialist or Claims Administrator to file death claim.

Assist in preparing legal documents including bankruptcy process reviews and assignments to legal counsel. Has a basic understanding of Az Bankruptcy Code, including Stay-lifts, Objections to Confirmation, Adequate Protection Hearings, and Valuation of security. Ability to discuss options with members' attorneys regarding Reaffirmation Agreements, Retention, and Surrendering of collateral.
