MLive seeks a news reporter who will focus on covering the Grand Rapids area, home to Michigan’s second-largest city, several major attractions, including new ones being built, and high-interest news stories. What We’ll Expect From You

• Ability to identify and develop important stories that resonate with everyday residents.
• A minimum of two years of journalism experience with a proven ability in reporting and writing.
• A degree in journalism, communications or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
• A willingness to ask the tough questions and being curious about what’s happening in the Grand Rapids community.
• Ability to tell stories in smart and engaging ways and a willingness to experiment with different storytelling forms.
• Familiarity with or willingness to learn new tools and software, including our content management system for publishing stories and photographs.
• Ability to work independently and remotely.
• This job requires reliable transportation to meet with sources and cover events.
