Job Description
The New York Times is looking for a dynamic reporter to produce revelatory stories about Southern California. We are seeking a self-starter who is hungry to drive the conversation about the region and who will come brimming with ideas on how to cover a region with outsized political and cultural influence across the world.

We are looking for someone with a track record of finding new ways to engage with readers through different forms and visual storytelling. Responsibilities
The annual base pay salary for this role is between $111,049.64 and$140,000.00.

- Monitoring news and delivering a steady stream of story ideas that help explain the region
- Developing sources locally to land exclusive stories and to establish beat authority
- Collaborating with colleagues across the newsroom who are based in California
- Writing with clarity on deadline
- Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.
- 5+ years’ experience at a journalism or media company or other relevant organization
- Writing skills that demonstrate mastery of journalistic style and standards, including ethical and superb news judgment
- A portfolio that includes news, enterprise and analysis
- Spanish language fluency
- Experience in Southern California
