Research Associate, Bioscience Immunology, Early Respiratory And Immunology

We are seeking a highly motivated research associate or scientist with hands-on experience with human immune cells to join our growing Immunology Bioscience team within the Early R&I department. This is a lab-based position based in Waltham, MA within AstraZeneca’s state-of-the-art laboratories. Accountabilities:

In this role, you will demonstrate a high level of enthusiasm for innovative scientific research leading to the discovery and development of novel therapeutics. You’ll primarily work with human immune cells from healthy donors and patients in vitro. You will contribute to new target identification strategies, characterization of novel immunological pathways in health and disease, and support the development of novel drug candidates. You will also drive innovation and scientific excellence through rigorous research, contribute to the development of new assays and novel techniques, publish your work in high impact journals, create and maintain a productive and collaborative work environment, and work closely with highly accomplished scientists across different functional teams and locations.

Essential Skills/Experience:


  • Relevant degree in biology, immunology, or a relevant discipline: Ph.D. OR MS with 2+ years OR BS with 5+ years of full-time research experience in Immunology, Cell Biology, In vitro Pharmacology or related scientific area. Industry experience is strongly preferred.
  • Strong hands-on skills with human immune cell culture, flow-cytometry, functional assays and assay development are essential. Experience with cellular therapies and/or Treg is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience in other cell biology and molecular biology techniques, such as lenti/retroviral transductions, qPCR, ddPCR, stable cell line generation, is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, record protocols and experiments detailed and in a timely manner and maintain an excellent laboratory notebook.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to critically analyze data set are essential.


Desirable Skills/Experience:


  • Familiarity with molecular biology techniques, in vitro 3D models or in vivo models is a bonus.
