Salary Range: $99,800 - $120,600 per year

Location: Emeryville, CA - Onsite Role

Job Summary:

Working on new antigen manufacturing processes as a Research Associate III, you will utilize various molecular biology techniques, including restriction enzyme digestion, ligation and transformation in bacteria, small-scale and large-scale protein preparations, preparation of competent yeast/bacteria, transformation of yeast/bacteria, and preparation of frozen seedstocks.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Set up bacterial and yeast cultures, extracting recombinant protein from the transformed cells using glass bead lysis or microfluidizer.
• Perform protein biochemical analysis using Western Blot, SDS-PAGE, SEC-MALS, DLS, etc.
• Perform protein purification via different chromatography methods (IEX, IMAC, SEC, HIC, etc.)
• Propose and execute scientific methods for issue resolution related to microbial expression experiments.
• Independently execute experiments with minimal direction.
• Perform other lab-related duties, including detailed, accurate record keeping, maintaining lab equipment and laboratory supplies, and working with glassware support staff.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, or related scientific field; Master's or PhD preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in molecular biology and biochemistry techniques
• 3+ years of experience working in a pharmaceutical, health care, or diagnostics research position
• Significant working knowledge of protein purification/quantification and endpoint assays (Bradford/BCA/Lowry)
• Strong technical laboratory, protein analytical, and microbial expression skills
• Strong presentation skills and ability to articulate findings to various levels of management.
• Excellent knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
