Job Summary

The Division of HIV, Infectious Diseases and Global Medicine at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center (ZSFG) is an internationally recognized global leader in HIV clinical care, research and education and has grown to encompass a network of specialty clinics, multiple research and clinical trials, an HIV education program, an international research program in East Africa and a vibrant community forum for clinicians and researchers. Housed within the Division is the SCOPE (Study on Consequences of the Protease Inhibitor Era and LIINC (Long-term Impact of Infection with the Novel Coronavirus) Research Programs that focuses on clinical and translational research.

The Data Scientist/Statistician (Research Data Analyst 2) will contribute to data management, programming, statistical analyses, and manuscript development. This position requires an employee who can manage a team of individuals who enter, clean, and prepare analytical datasets. The Research Data Analyst will have the following additional responsibilities: 1) to support development of a master dataset that is be continuously updated as new data are entered, 2) to conduct primary statistical analyses of a complex nature, 3) to play an integral role in design of new research studies and databases related to aspects of data collection, and 4) to provide training and support in statistical and data-related principles to other employees. Analyses will include multivariate and longitudinal data analyses. The Research Data Analyst should show a strong interest in clinical research and a desire to contribute to the state of knowledge on the natural history of SARS-CoV-2. The Research Data Analyst must be able to multi-task, problem-solve, and apply creative solutions to new and unexpected situations with limited supervision.The Research Data Analyst must be able to communicate effectively verbally and through written materials with collaborators.

This is a one year contract appointment from 9/1/24 – 8/31/25.

The Division of HIV, Infectious Diseases and Global Medicine at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) is an internationally recognized global leader in clinical care, research, and education. With its home-base located at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center (ZSFG), the Division has been ranked as the top facility in the country for AIDS care since 1983. The Division’s work is featured frequently in the media, and it is often visited by numerous international, national, state, and local dignitaries and delegations. The Division consists of approximately 36 faculty members, 11 fellows/postdoctoral scholars and 170 academic and staff employees. It is the largest Division of the Department of Medicine (DOM) at ZSFG, with a total expenditure budget of approximately $52 million dollars.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and one or more years of relevant experience and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Working knowledge of research function.
  • Working skills in statistical analysis, system programming, database design and data security measures.
  • Working skills in analysis and consultation.
  • Skills to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner both verbally and written.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • Research skills at a level to evaluate alternate solutions and develop recommendations
