Research Program Director, Global Health Institute - Georgetown University Medical Center

Requirements

The Georgetown University Global Health Institute (GUGHI) serves as a university-wide platform for supporting faculty, students, and staff who are contributing to global health through research, teaching, policy, and service. The Institute is launching a Faith & Global Health Initiative (FGHI) and seeks a Research Program Director (RPD) to lead this project. Their initial priority will be the coordination of a new international Commission on Faith, Trust, & Global Health that is being led by Georgetown University plus participating and supporting discrete research projects of the Commission.

Responsibilities

The incumbent will work closely with academic faculty leaders of the Faith & Global Health Initiative and the Managing Director of GUGHI to provide overall technical and administrative leadership and coordination. In collaboration with colleagues at Georgetown and our external partners (including Commission co-chairs and members), the Research Program Director has additional responsibilities that include but are not limited to:

  • Engage widely with academics, policymakers, and practitioners working on issues of faith and global health, identifying needs and opportunities for research and policy dialogue.
  • Oversee the administration of the Faith & Global Health Initiative and Commission, including the coordination of all people and activities involved.
  • Actively work with the Global Health Institute’s leadership team to secure additional funding for the work and oversee the overall budget, ensuring coordination of conferences and events.
  • Supervise any staff working directly for the FGHI or Commission, working closely with the GUGHI senior leadership team, colleagues from the Berkley Center for Religion, Peace & World Affairs, and a range of global health faculty and students across the University.

Requirements And Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in international development, religion, global health, public health, or a related field; Doctoral degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in policy, research, or practice related to faith communities or faith-inspired organizations in health or international development
  • Minimum 3 years of experience leading a project, initiative, or organization
  • Experience with the design, implementation, and publication of peer-reviewed research
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent skills in public engagement, including building and managing relationships with stakeholders from diverse professional backgrounds, nationalities, political views, cultures, faith-orientations, and languages
  • Experience in successful grant writing, budget management, and donor reporting preferred
  • Experience in organizing international workshops or conferences that involves participants from many different countries preferred

Pay Range

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$66,783.00 - $126,720.23

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
