The Data Scaling team’s purpose is to squeeze as much intelligence as possible out of the data we have. We build precise science around the use of both real data and synthetic data, and are one of the teams responsible for training the LLMs used in both ChatGPT and the API.
About The Role
As a Research Scientist you will develop innovative machine learning techniques and advance the research agenda of the team you work on, while also collaborating with peers across the organization. We are looking for people who want to discover simple, generalizable ideas that work well even at large scale, and form part of a broader research vision that unifies the entire company.
In This Role, You Will
- Design, execute and analyze experiments that answer key research priorities
- Develop reliable scaling science methodologies that serve as a foundation for further research
- Contribute to our flagship model pre-training runs
- Collaborate with teams across Pre-training and Post-training
- Have a proven track record of impactful research, ideally in LLMs
- Possess a deep understanding of experimental design principles
- Have experience working with large datasets and distributed systems
- Are familiar with Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Large Language Models and related infrastructure (e.g. PyTorch)
- Are excited to see your ideas tested at unprecedented scale
